Charles Pernell Farrow, of 2206 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, with his immediate family at his bedside. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Air Force officer and a retired U.S. Government Postal employee.
The funeral will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Jackson Chapel First Baptist Church, 517 E. Nash St., Wilson, with Pastor Welton Barnes officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Surviving to cherish fond memories are his loving wife of 41 years, Mrs. Geraldine Wilkins Farrow of the home; one daughter, Cathy Farrow Taylor (Kenneth), of Greensboro; one son, Plummer C. Alston Jr. (Mary) of Wilson; three grandchildren, Charles L. Farrow (Kesha) of Greensboro, Sandy Thompson and Plummer C. “Butch” Alston III, both of Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Charley Thompson and Camryn Thompson of Wilson; two sisters, Velma Rowland of Washington and Ruth Mann (Luther) of Pantego; two brothers, Ledrew Farrow (Lucy) of Westerville, Ohio, and Carver Farrow (Freida) of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; two aunts, Carthenia C. Mann of New Bern and Augusta C. Davis of Pantego; a brother-in-law, Willie G. Wilkins Jr. (Cornelia), of Wilson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many loving and caring friends.
Public viewing was held on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 3-8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, and the body will lie in state at the church from noon Friday to the hour of the funeral, with a visitation with family and friends Friday from 12:30-1 p.m. at the church. The family will assemble at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the residence for the funeral procession to the church.
