Mrs. Annie Maude Ball Bright, age 91, a resident of 2203 W. Barr Road, Chocowinity, NC died Thursday June 12, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday June 15, 2008 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by H.W. Harrell and David Linton. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Barry Bright, Glynn Bright, Randy Bright, Ricky McVicker, Jamie McVicker and Donnie Edwards will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Marslender, Charlie Boy Edwards, Larry Smith, Bobby Ball, Ashley Roberson and Roderick Roberson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Bright was born in Beaufort County on February 16, 1917, daughter of the late Willie N. and Carrie Ball. On October 6, 1934, she married the late William C. Bright “Boot” who preceded in death on January 12, 1973. She worked at Edinburg Mill for several years and then worked with elderly people as a devoted care giver. Mrs. Bright was a faithful member of Chocowinity Church of God. She taught little children in Sunday School for a number of years. She loved to go to church and to the “Grand Ole Gospel.” In 1983, she was named Washington Daily News Mother of the Year.
Mrs. Bright is survived by her two sons: John “J.R.” Bright and his wife, Mary of Chocowinity; Bobby Bright and his wife, Marie of Washington; her two daughters: Lillie McVicker of Chocowinity; Carrie Jean Carrow and her husband, Rayvon also of Chocowinity; her daughter-in-law: Myrtie Bright of Washington and a God Daughter, Faye M. Edwards of Chocowinity. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son: Churchill Ray Bright; her grandson: Jay Bright; her son-in-law: James McVicker; two grandsons-in-law: Todd Harding and Gilbert Bright; three sisters: Katie Smith, Daisy Roberson and Lucille Godley and her brother: Bill Ball.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. on Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the homes of her daughters Carrie Jean Carrow located at 2273 W. Barr Road, Chocowinity, Lillie McVicker located at 358 James Lane, Chocowinity and at the home of her son, Bobby Bright located at 2525 Slatestone Road, Washington.
