Mr. James “Junior” Jenkins Jr., 79, of 4061 N.C. Highway 171, Washington, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in St. John Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Washington, with Elder Russell Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hodges family cemetery in Washington.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Beaufort County on April 25, 1929. He was the son of the late Olivia Roberson Jenkins and James Jenkins Sr. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was married to Dora Mae Lewis Jenkins, who survives. He had been employed with the Arnolds Farm in Washington and Singer Furniture Manufacturing Co., Chocowinity.
Survivors include three sons, Archie Lee Jenkins and James Edwards Jenkins, both of Washington, and Larry Hodges of Suffolk, Va.; one sister, Carrie Kelly of Washington; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vera Jenkins; one sister, Rosa Bell Jenkins and one brother, Frank Jenkins.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
