Mrs. Gennie Louise Ebison Ward, 75, of 205 Baker Drive, Washington, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Deeper Life Ministries, U.S. Highway 264 West, Washington, with Elder Antonio R. Grice officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield &Whitley Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 31, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Freeman Ebison Sr. and Addorah S. Ebison. She attended the former Washington City Schools. She was married to Willie H. “Bill” Ward, who preceded her in death. She was a member of The Ninth Street Church of God and later Higher Vision Ministry under the pastorate of Elder Antonio R. Grice.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Howard, Dorothy Everson and Iris M. Ward, all of Washington, and Carolyn J. Ward of Raleigh; three sons, Harvey Ward Jr. and Steve L. Ward, both of Washington, and Donald R. Ward of Chocowinity; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children, Gloria Columbus and Jerry Ward and seven siblings.
A walk-in viewing will be held today from 1-8 p.m. at Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
The family will receive friends at the homes of her son, Steve Ward, 332 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, and her daughter, Dorothy Everson, 100 Randolph Road, Washington.
