Mr. Robert Lee Windley Sr., 75, of 4867 N.C. Highway 99 South, Belhaven, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holly Grove Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Sidney community, Belhaven, with the Rev. Dr. Johnson Hazel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Windley was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 7, 1932. He was the son of the late Alveria Moore Windley and Johnny Frank Windley. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. On June 2, 1958, he married Priscilla Lawrence Windley, who survives. His employment was as a carpenter. He was a lifelong member of Holly Grove Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Belhaven, where he served on the trustee board and in the choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Delores Pollard of Raleigh; four sons, James Donnall Satterthwaite of Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert “Bud” Windley Jr. of Charlotte, and Michael Windell and Terrell Windley, both of Belhaven; two brothers, Edward F. Windley and Ivory D. Windley, both of Belhaven; two sisters, Johnnie Gray Bailey of Belhaven, and Marion Peele of Pinetown; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 225 King St., Bath.
Viewing will take place today from 1-7 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
