Mr. James Ervin “Buddy” Davenport, 92, of 1710 Matthews Road, Robersonville, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Robersonville First Baptist Church with the Rev. William “Bill” Gay Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Robersonville Cemetery.
Mr. Davenport was the son of the late James Randell and Ackie Whitehurst Davenport. He was married to Christine Coburn Davenport, who survives. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Robersonville.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce D. Johnson of Greenville and Brenda D. Rivenbark of Burgaw; one son, James H. Davenport of Snow Hill; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ida Mae Dunning, Gertrude Langley, Frances White and Christine McGowan and three brothers, Rufus Davenport, Clayton Davenport and Dalton Davenport.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Robersonville First Baptist Church and other times at the home.
