Second recovery center opens

A second disaster-recovery center is open in Beaufort County.

The center is located at the Richland Senior Club, 102 E. Fifth St., Aurora. It will remain open through Sunday, according to a Federal Emergency Management Agency news release.

Hurricane Irene victims living in Beaufort County may be eligible for federal disaster assistance. Victims seeking disaster assistance should apply to FEMA.

Victims should call 1-800-621-3362 to register and apply for assistance by telephone.

The other disaster-recovery center in Beaufort County is located at Mid-Atlantic Safety Council, 2871 U.S. Highway 17 South, Chocowinity. It is open until further notice.
