Northside baseball team wins

YEATESVILLE -- Scratching across four runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Northside Panthers earned an 8-7 victory over Plymouth in Four Rivers Conference baseball action on Friday.
Northside (3-3, 1-1) loaded the bases thanks to two errors and a walk. Another walk forced in a run, while a fielder's choice scored another to make it 7-6. Two passed balls allowed the next two Northside runs to score to make it 8-7.
Charlie Cutler picked up the win, striking out two in the complete-game victory. Brandon Boyd had two hits and drove in three.
Jimmy Sandy homered in a losing effort for the Vikings.
Northside returns to action Friday at Williamston, while Plymouth plays host to Roanoke on Tuesday.

Shephard, Brandon fire no-hitter
CHOCOWINITY -- Williamston's Samantha Shepard and Jane Brandon combined on a no-hitter, leading Williamston to an 18-2 victory over Southside in Four Rivers Conference softball action Friday.
The Tigers, benefiting from 18 walks, scored six times in the second and seven more in the fourth to break it open.
Senior Virginia Webb had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Webb tripled home two runs in the second.
Brandon went 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and four walks. Shepard closed it out, striking out three over 4 1/3 innings.
The Tigers (2-4, 2-0) travel to Perquimans on Tuesday, while Southside plays host to Gates County.

Tigers blank Seahawks
SOUTHSIDE -- Mike Shepard shut down the Southside bats, while the Tigers gave him plenty of offensive support in a 10-0 victory on Thursday.
Williamston (6-1, 2-0), winners of six straight, scored five times in the second. Dee Eubanks and Matt Lilley each had two hits for the Tigers. Four straight hits by Trey Warren, J.J. House, Dee Eubanks and Brad Roach accounted for the five runs.
Kevin Boyd had a pair of hits for the Seahawks (3-3,0-1).
The Tigers visit Perquimans on Tuesday, while Southside plays goes to SouthWest Edgecombe on Monday.

Knights get first win
TERRA CEIA -- The Terra Ceia Knights picked up their first baseball win of the season, taking a 12-9 victory over Bethel on Friday.
Ryan Alons delivered a key blow with a bases-loaded clearing triple, highlighting a seven-run second inning. Steven Kendall, a seventh grader, had an RBI single in the second and made some big plays in the field.
Phillip VanDerWeit earned the pitching win, with Jonathan Harris earning the save. Harris came on with the bases loaded in the fourth and allowed just one runner to score.
In the conclusion of another game, the Knights fell 7-1 to Bethel.
The Knights (4-1) return to action Monday at Lawrence Academy.

Knights fall to Bethel in softball
The Terra Ceia Knights fell 6-5 to Bethel in girls' softball action on Friday.
Hilary Keyzer banged out two hits and Wendy Van Essendelft tripled for the Knights.
Terra Ceia (1-5) plays host to Albemarle on Friday.
