YEATESVILLE — Her energy and bubbly spirit have been a big plus on the court for the Panthers volleyball team, but Kayla Cerny’s spunky attitude off the court has been just as big of a contribution.
The 17-year-old senior is looked upon by her teammates to keep the mood light in the locker room, which is a role Cerny embraces.
While she is all jokes before games, on the court she is strictly business. As the Panthers’ outside hitter, Cerny is counted on to provide strong net play.
Wagaman said that Cerny has worked hard to develop her game, and has greatly improved her hitting.
Cerny’s court vision has allowed her attack to become more deadly.
Cerny’s vision has helped her become a better server as well. However, consistency on her serving is still a struggle.
The senior said she knows her serving can be inconsistent, and said that it is a work in progress.
Cerny transferred from Pungo after her sophomore year, and as a junior didn’t see much time on the court. However, this year she has grown into one of the team’s leaders.
Cerny not only excels at volleyball, but helped the Panthers’ 4×4 relay team finish seventh in the state last season, and also plays hoops in the winter.
Her high school career is filled with highlights, and that trend won’t stop anytime soon as Cerny plans becoming a hair stylist upon graduation.
