Mr. Orville Allen Howett, 80, of Florence, S.C., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence, S.C. Interment will follow on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Azalea Memorial Gardens, Columbia, N.C.
Mr. Howett was born in Columbia, N.C., the son of the late William and Lovie Swain Howett. He served in the Coast Guard. He was first married to Althea Ruth Midget. He later married Sarah Dillon Howett, who survives. He was the owner of Howett Motors in Columbia, N.C. He was a member of Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Timmonsville, S.C., where he served as deacon.
Survivors include one son, Jeffrey A. Howett of LaGrange; one daughter, Karen Howett Kinlaw of Glen Allen, Va.; two stepdaughters, Dale G. Glenn of Florence, S.C., and Glenda Reaves of Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Florene H. Wilkerson of Reidsville, Thyra Smith of Yanceyville and Kathryn Blount of Greenville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 1402 W. Smith St., Timmonsville, SC 29161.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence, S.C.
