Mr. Arthur Lee Modlin, Jr., 71, a resident 05 315 E. 11th Street, Greenville, NC, died at the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina Inpatient Hospice on September 17th, 2011. Arthur Lee was born in Jamesville, NC, on June 4, 1940, to the late Arthur L. Modlin, Sr. and Emma Manning Modlin. He graduated from Jamesville High School in 1958 and attended North Carolina State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1963 to 1966, and a member of Cedar Branch Baptist Church. He worked as a self-employed estate appraiser and antique dealer. Arthur Lee is survived by a brother, Ed Modlin and wife Yvonne, of Jamesville, NC; two sisters, Faye Modlin of Jamesville, NC and Kaye Modlin Woolard of Washington NC, his long-time beloved friend and business associate, JoAnne Waters of Farmville, NC, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lelia Modlin Castelloe of Askewville, NC.

A graveside service will be conducted by Reverend Adron Modlin at 11:00 a.m., September 20, 2011, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Williamston, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The University Health Systems Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, C/O PCMH Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville NC 27835. The family expresses sincere gratitude and appreciation to the University Systems Inpatient Hospice staff for their tireless and dedicated efforts. The family will receive friends at the residence of Ed and Yvonne Modlin, 1540 Arthur Modlin Road, Jamesville, NC. Jimmy D. Sawyer, funeral director licensee, is serving the Modlin family.
