Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
After Hurricane Irene I saw many neighbors helping each other out cleaning up. We should all help the city by cleaning in front of our houses or one of the parks or cemeteries. Let’s come back cleaner and nicer — and fast.
Wind turbines do not kill birds. Gas turbines do kill birds because of the high extreme heat of the exhaust. They are a good thing, and I hope Beaufort County gets them here.
I loved Mike Voss’ article about pushing shopping carts. If I run in to him in Wal-Mart, I hope I am the one on the right side.
Kudos to FEMA. It helped us tremendously. We have already relocated and no longer under 4 inches of water. It was the best help we have gotten yet.
There are bowls of cat food downtown that are left out all the time, not just for 30 minutes.
I would like to thank the clerk of court’s office for the help I received the other day. The two women were great. They were very polite and helpful.
We are residents of Belhaven who lost our house in the tornado. We would like to thank the community, Northside High School and Northeast Elementary School for helping get my children some clothing and for all the community help from Red Cross. Also, the Belhaven Police Department rescued us.
There were many supporters in favor of feeding the downtown cats at the City Council meeting. However, because they were not aware of the meeting protocol, they left after the proposal was presented.
People who want to feed the cats should take them home and take care of them there.
