There were approximately 30 people at the City Council meeting in favor of feeding downtown cats. Many of them were prepared to speak. However, when it appeared this discussion was concluded and not open for comment, the supporters left. The loud applause speaks for itself and could have been noted in the article in the Washington Daily News.

Enforcing a ban on feeding downtown Washington cats is difficult, time consuming and a poor use of our police department’s limited resources. There will always be compassionate people who will, in spite of ordinances, continue to provide a little food for our downtown cats. Allow the modification of the ordinance so the TNR program can continue to be an effective method of population stabilization. Those few remaining cats will stay healthy without reproducing and take care of any mice population.

Does the Washington Daily News really believe that the political cartoon on Saturday really represents its subscribers’ interests?

I can’t believe the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event at Yankee Hall, which is in Pitt County.

What’s going on with putting Notre Dame on TV and not putting North Carolina on there? I sure wish the networks would get it right.

I hope our new county manager can talk with the city and get us country folks 5 percent off our light bills.
