Multiple drug charges filed

On Thursday, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Unit conducted a search warrant at 164 E. Main St., Edward, after receiving several Crime Stoppers complaints citing drug activity at the residence.

The search warrant stemmed from investigators conducting controlled purchases of crack-cocaine from Mary Louise Hardy, 51, owner of the residence. As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized a quantity of crack-cocaine, digital scales, a firearm and packaging material.

Investigators made several arrests as they encountered several individuals inside the residence. Arrested were Hardy; Jo Ann Story, 48, of 132 Hall Ave., Aurora; Karen Brounsen Boyd, 47, of 104 Chesterfield Court, Greenville; David William Stilley, 49, of 18090 N.C. Highway 33 East, Blounts Creek; Amelia Jenkins, 50, of 18929 N.C. 33 East, Edward; Whitford Lee Moore, 77, of 20587 N.C. Highway 55, Oriental; and Michael Deshawn Moore, 18, of 952 Flat Swamp Road, Blounts Creek.

Hardy was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession of a firearm by felon, maintain a dwelling to facilitate drug activity and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hardy was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.

As for Story, Boyd, Stilley, Jenkins and Miller, each was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moore was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana.

All were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center, each under a $5,000 secured bond.
