Mr. Lawrence Gilbert Curtis, 71, of 12749 U.S. Highway 64, Williamston, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Martin Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dallas Gurganus officiating.
Mr. Curtis was born in Martin County on Oct. 17, 1937. He was the son of Mae Wynne Curtis Hopkins of Parmele and the late Alvis Curtis. He was an Army veteran. He worked with the N.C. Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. On Sept. 17, 1993, he married Ann Keel Curtis, who survives. He was a member of Grace Family Fellowship Church.
Survivors include one sister, Nancy Gwarek of Reidsville; four brothers, James Curtis of Parmele, Richard Curtis of Robersonville, Stanley Curtis of Williamston and Mike Curtis of Hamilton; five stepdaughters, Ann Peed, Carol Revels, Wanda Bowen and Nancy Simpson, all of Williamston, and Lisa Rice of Bayboro; three stepsons, Tom Leary and David Leary, both of Robersonville, and Randy Leary of Bear Grass and several stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Grace Family Fellowship Church and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Biggs Funeral Home, Williamston.
