FBI joins investigation into bank robbery

A Washington bank was robbed around lunchtime Friday by a single suspect.
Authorities did not release any information about a weapon involved.
No amount of money taken by the robber was reported by the bank nor the police.
Around 12:47 p.m. Friday, officers with the Washington Police Department and deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to First South Bank at 1311 Carolina Avenue in Washington to a call of a bank robbery.
A suspect in the robbery was photographed by a surveillance camera in the bank. Police released the photo about two hours after the crime.
The photograph showed a quiet bank atmosphere, with no apparent knowledge by bank customers that a robbery was in progress.
According to the Police Department, the suspect is believed to be a white or Hispanic male with a mustache. Police think he is between 40 and 55 years old.
Police said he was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, blue jeans that were light in color and a tan or white ball cap.
Witnesses said the suspect left the scene in an older model mid-size pickup truck that was white or silver. Police said the truck possibly has rust on its right-side quarter panel.
The Washington Police Department is being assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The department is seeking any information that the community might be able to provide.
There were no injuries during the robbery.
