Mrs. Ruth Virginia Groves Waters

Mrs. Ruth “Virginia” Groves Waters, age 79, a resident of 3667 Harvey Road, Washington died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Dennis R. Davis and William Ray Askew. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
The following will serve as active pallbearers: Donald Cutler, Sr., Jerry Cutler, Anthony Cutler, Mac Ashley Daniels, Jordan Davis and Mac Daniels. The Elders and Deacons of Everett’s Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Waters was born in Hyattsville, MD on January 29, 1929, daughter of the late William C. Groves, Sr. and Anna Virginia Haffer Groves. On September 2, 1950, she married Ulysses “Bill” Waters, Jr. who survives. She was manager of Embassy Dairy Credit Union. Mrs. Waters was a charter member of Glen Dale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in Glen Dale, MD and a member of Everett’s Church of Christ. She loved all children and had the pleasure of being “aunt” and “grandmother” to many children in the community.
In addition to her husband, Bill Waters of the home, she is survived by her daughter, Debra Cutler and her husband, Julian of Washington; her brother, William C. Groves, Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Indian Head, Maryland; Helen Johnson of Washington and her special little neighbors, Lexie and Breanna Leggett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Groves.
The family will receive friends at the home located at 3667 Harvey Road, Washington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Waters requested that memorials be made to: Riley’s Army Fund (Pediatric Cancer Fund), P.O. Box 720, Winterville, NC 28590 or Open Door Christian Ministry, 500 Weston Road, Creswell, NC 27928.
