On Saturday, Deputy Jason Cleary with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division was patrolling the Belhaven area. At approximately 10:53 p.m., Cleary observed a passenger car operating left of center and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle to determine if the operator was impaired.

Cleary made contact with the driver and detected an odor of a controlled substance. During a search, Cleary recovered two shortened straws containing a white substance consistent with cocaine. Cleary tested the substance with a field test kit and received a positive result for the presence of cocaine.

As a result, Cleary arrested Sarah Elizabeth Wallace, 25, of Main Street, Pinetown, and charged her with possession of cocaine.

Wallace was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
