On Aug. 30, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of breaking and entering and larceny at a residence on Breezy Shores Road, Bath. The victim reported that a flat-screen television was stolen from inside the residence.

DNA evidence recovered at the crime scene was sent to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation lab in Raleigh for processing.

After reviewing the DNA comparison results from the lab and conducting additional interviews, Investigator Jim Martin obtained a warrant charging Robert Alan Koonce, 34, of Antler Lane, Washington, with felony breaking and/or entering and felony larceny.

Koonce surrendered Monday and was released under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
