Mr. Jess Willard “J.W.” McCeldry, Jr., age 56, a resident of 5316 US 17 Hwy North, Washington, NC died Saturday November 8, 2008 at the Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday November 12, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Eddie Bowen and Thelbert Leggett. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Troy Kinnion, Chico Costin, Scott Williamson, Harvey Williamson, III, Anthony Abernathy and Stanley Leggett will serve as pallbearers. Nicky Hopkins will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Mr. McCeldry was born in Lakeland, Fl on July 28, 1952 son of the late Jess Willard McCeldry, Sr. and the late Helen Burgner McCeldry. He married the former Frances Leggett on May 18, 1985 who survives. Mr. McCeldry was a truck driver with GDS Waste Systems.
Surviving along with his wife Frances of the home is a son: Jonathan Wade McCeldry of Lakeland, FL; three step-sons: Carlton Ambrose of Washington, Hal Kinnion and his wife Alice of Blounts Creek and Greg Kinnion of Grantsboro; a step-daughter: Lori Duppenthaler and her husband Kelly of Sebring, FL; a sister: Virginia Buzzell of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren: Jonathan Wade McCeldry and Savannah McCeldry and nine step-grandchildren: Zachery M. Ambrose, Taylor Anne Ambrose, Troy Kinnion, Amy Kinnion, Katie Kinnion, Susan K. Abernathy, Gregory Kinnion, Brittany Kinnion and Bryson Banks.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday November 11, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
