Rosa Mae “Rose” Springer Wallace, 86, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at her home in Bath.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, November 22 at 11 a.m. at Bath Christian Church. Burial will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA at a later date.
Mrs. Wallace, daughter of the late Clinton E. and Rosa V. Pease, was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia. She was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley Academy, New Market, Va. and Columbia Union College, Takoma Park, MD. She was first married to Charles E. Springer in 1946 and they owned and operated seven radio stations in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. She moved from Richmond, VA to Greenville, NC in 1962. Mr. Springer died in 1967. She was married to E. Jack Wallace in 1969 and they moved to Bath, NC in 1971 where she was a member of the Bath Christian Church and Circle #4, the A-Z Doll Club, and a charter member of the Heritage Book Club. Mr. Wallace died in 1987.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Sara Law and a step-great grandson, Nicholas Hunt.
Surviving, step-daughter, Anne W. Law and husband, Jerry; two step-granddaughters, Susan Law Sieber and husband, Carl and Deborah Law Hunt and husband, Robert, and two step-great granddaughters who called her “Granny Rose” Olivia Mary Anne Hunt and Caroline Rose Hunt all of Winterville; other close relatives, Peggy Smith, Dee Wallace, Tom and Marilyn Quinn, and Joan S. and Spencer Padgett; and lifelong friend, Diane Pheiffer and husband, John, of Tampa, FL.
