Ms. Cheryl Denise Payne, 48, of 1813 Hop-Tyson Road, Greenville died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at University Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church, Washington with the Rev. Ricardo W. Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Payne was born in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., on Oct. 16, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Willie James Payne and Emma Spencer Payne. She was a 1978 graduate of Washington High School, Washington and did further studies at Pitt Community College, Greenville and received certification as a certified nursing assistant. Her employment was as a candy striper at the nursing home on Main Street in Washington, Singer Furniture Co. in Chocowinity, National Spinning Mill in Washington and Holding Temporaries and Multicare Nursing Agency serving in the capacities of accountant, office manager and a certified nursing assistant.
Survivors include one daughter, Kendra Marie Daniels of the home; two sons, John Cobbs Jr. of Chocowinity and Jerome Daniels of the home; one sister, Anita Payne Jones of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Ricardo W. Payne of Washington, D.C., and Douglas L. Payne of Atlanta, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Liller Spencer Taylor.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington and other times at the home.
