Mr. William Elma Daugherty, Jr., age 66, a resident of 2560 N.C. Hwy 33, East, Chocowinity, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at University Health System Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
Mr. Daugherty requested to be cremated and no services will be held.
Mr. Daugherty was born in Huntsville, Alabama on January 18, 1942. He was the son of the late William Elma Daugherty, Sr. and Birdie Gentle Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty retired from the automotive industry as a tool and die maker.
On January 3, 1973, Mr. Daugherty married the former Ruth Ellen Weigand, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Shane William Daugherty of Cary, Shawn Thomas Daugherty of Fuquay-Varina and Seneca David Daugherty of Chocowinity; three sisters, Frances Womack of Attalla, Alabama, Jeanette Bonner of Calleen, Texas, Peggy Greer of Eastman, Ga.; one brother, Richard Daugherty of LeBelle, Maryland, and one grandson, Caden David Daugherty of Chocowinity.
