Mr. Russell Bailey Wynne, 82, of 11911 U.S. Highway 64, Williamston, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at his home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Biggs Chapel in Williamston with Dr. Jimmy Moore and the Rev. Rod Denning officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wynne was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Martin County. He was the son of the late on of Johnnie Bryant Wynne and Modie Bell Bailey Wynne. On Feb. 4, 1950, he married the former Jackie Tuten, who survives. He was retired from N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance department. Mr. Wynne was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington.
Survivors include; one son, Jimmy Wynne of Everetts; one daughter, Gloria Ann Blake of Kinston; one sister, Nina Leggett of Bear Grass and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Wynne, and a brother, James Harry Wynne.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home.
