Curtis Leon Snyder, Sr., 57, of 118 Park Avenue, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 in Martin General Hospital, Williamston.
Mr. Snyder was born in Bertie County and was the son of the late Floyd Clayton and Eunice Pierce Snyder. A former driver with both Rose Bros. Paving and Pierce Fertilizer, he was a disabled veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the US Army. He was a life member of American Legion Post 40, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Snyder.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Wayne Snyder and wife Melissa of Jamesville, Curtis Leon Snyder, Jr. and wife Michelle of Elizabeth City, and Christopher Lee Snyder of Junction City, KS; two sisters, Shirley Barber and Sharon Halsey, both of Jamesville; two brothers, Donald Wayne Snyder of Williamston and Jarrett Ray Snyder of Windsor, NC; and four grandchildren, Aaron, Shannon, Dylan, and Brandon Snyder.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home &Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Ron Gardner and the Rev. Frank G. Halsey, Jr. Burial with military honors will follow in the Bass-Pierce Family Cemetery in the Rocky Hock community of Chowan County. Friends may join the family in the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and all other times at the “home place”, 934 US 17 North, Windsor.
