One of 15 recognizedfor being Real D.E.A.L.

Chocowinity Primary School is one of this year’s 15 recipients of the Real Dedicated Educators, Administrators and Learners award.
A statewide award, the Real D.E.A.L. is based on a combination of teacher satisfaction, student achievement and other factors.
Schools are selected across the state as finalists to make sure that large, small, urban and rural schools are represented along with schools from each of eight subregions of the state, according to the award program’s Web site.
This year, Chocowinity Middle School also was a finalist for the award.
After winning, representatives from Chocowinity Primary School were invited to Cary, where they were recognized Thursday at the N.C. Teacher Working Conditions Conference and shared strategies they had used to improve their school.
He said the staff also talked about available resources, staff development and technology.
Much of the school’s success stemmed from a dedicated teaching staff that is given the resources it needs, he said.
Conway, who will Chocowinity Primary School in January to become the school system’s director of human resources, said it is nice to go out with a win, but that most of the credit belongs to students, teachers and the community.
Moss emphasized that the teachers don’t just excel on days that state surveys are made.
