Mrs. Mary Holton Boyd, age 86, a resident of Washington, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Britthaven of Washington.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday December 14, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Tony Krantz. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Jeffrey Harding, Justin Boyd, Mike Gray, Pete Lee, Lane Alligood and Jimmie Lewis will serve as pallbearers. Dal Dixon and Leigh Roy Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Washington County on December 29, 1921 to the late Herbert Russell Holton and the late Alice Ambrose Holton. On February 15, 1941 she married William Edward Boyd, Sr. who preceded her in death on August 15, 2003. She was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters: Betty Jean Dixon and her husband Dalmer of Washington and Sandra Lewis of Blounts Creek; one son: William E. Boyd, Jr. and his wife Debra of Washington; one sister: Delores Alexander of Creswell; one brother: Herbert Holton of Creswell; four grandchildren: Dal Dixon and his wife Andrea, Lynn Dixon, Kelly Harding and her husband Jeffrey and Justin Boyd and one great-grandson: Britain Dixon. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by one daughter: Rita Toler on October 7, 2003; one stepson: Bruce Lewis; one brother: Julian Holton and three sisters: Lena Brown, Eula Gray and Esther Davenport.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
