Mrs. Katherine “Kay” B. Reynolds, age 95, a resident of 1304 N. Respess Street, Washington, NC passed away Wednesday evening, December 17, 2008 at Beaufort County Medical Center.
No services are planned. The family will receive friends at her home 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19th.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Ohio on June 24, 1913, daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth Bone. On December 26, 1936, she married Edwin A. “Ed” Reynolds who preceded her in death on October 3, 2004. Mrs. Reynolds was awarded a service recognition pin for 15,000 hours for her volunteer work at Pomerado Hospital in Rancho Bernardo, CA. She was very active in the All Souls Episcopal Church in San Diego. She and her husband were avid Charger fans, deep sea fishermen and golfers, where Kay scored a hole-in-one. She was very active with the Senior Citizens Center exercise program in Washington and a great inspiration to those that attended with her.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan R. “Sue” Francis and son-in-law, William J. “Billy” Francis of Washington; her son, Philip Reynolds and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Omaha, NE; her granddaughter, Jill S. Francis of Nashville, TN. She will also be greatly missed by her faithful grand puppy and companion, Zipper. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Schmidt.
