Mary “Mickie” Waruszcak Moss

Mary “Mickie” Waruszcak Moss, age 62, a resident of Smithwick Creek Church Road, Williamston, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at her home.
A celebration of her life will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, officiated by pastor Josh Davenport. Special music will be provided by pastor Josh Davenport. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at other times at her home.
Mickie was born on Feb. 17, 1949, in Rocky Mount, daughter of the late Frank Waruszcak Jr. and Evelyn Gay Waruszcak. She was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School class of 1967, Martin Community College and East Carolina University. She taught English at J.H. Rose, Jamesville, Williamston and Washington High Schools. Mickie was chairman of the Exceptional Children Department. She was married to Marvin Lee Moss Sr. on April 28, 1967, who preceded her in death April 23, 2007. Mickie was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Mickie is survived by her children, Marvin Lee Moss Jr. and wife Sandra of Wake Forest, Danny Moss and wife Sheri of Winterville, Jessica Arnold and husband Chris of Washington and Nicole Myers and husband Steve of Williamston; grandchildren Matt and Lauren Moss, Emily and Sarah Moss, Christian Russell II and Blake Arnold and Skylar Myers; sister Doris Gay Matthews of Spring Hope, brother Stanley Van Waruszcak and wife Sibylle of DeRidder, La., and mother-in-law Geneva Mae Mitchell Moss of Wake Forest. She is also survived by her faithful companion Roxie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Frank Waruszcak III and her father-in-law Charlie Gray Moss Jr.
