Mr. Calvin Earl Ward, 39, of 982 Pungo Village, Belhaven, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted today at 1 p.m. in Holly Grove Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Dr. Johnson Hazel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 26, 1969. He was the son of Harry Gibbs and Dalphine Ward Gibbs. He was a graduate of the former John A. Wilkinson High School. He was an Army veteran. He was employed at Stanadyne Automotive prior to declining health. He was a member of Holly Grove Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), where he served with the youth choir, as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and in the Male Chorus.
Survivors include one sister, Tikina Gibbs of Belhaven and his paternal grandmother, Audrey Gibbs of Belhaven.
The family will receive friends at the home.
