Morris Grady Pritchett, Jr., 67, of 13397 U. S. Highway 64-East, Columbia died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Tyrrell County, January 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Morris G. Pritchett, Sr. and Dorothy Morris Pritchett. He served in the U.S. Marines and in the Marines Reserve. He was a local businessman and proprietor of Creswell SuperMarket and Alligator River Marina. He was also the developer of Columbia Square in Columbia, and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Columbia. Pastor James Koo, Rev. Royce Reynolds and Rev. Joe Wynns will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Woodley Pritchett; a son, Joseph Logan Pearce, Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Donna P. Price and her husband, W. Neal Price, Jr. of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Dorothy P. Pledger of Chocowinity; granddaughters, Laura Ruth Price and Samantha Jo Price.

The family will receive friends at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Main Street, Columbia on Thursday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
