Mrs. Viola Register Butler Byrd, 89, died Sunday. Jan. 4, 2009, at Britthaven of Harnett in Dunn.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Union United Methodist Church with pastors Kim Hyung and Pat Fletcher and the Rev. William P. Register officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Charlie B. and Missie Jane Long Register. She was preceded in death by both her husbands, John Wilson Butler and Douglas Wilson Byrd.
Survivors include one son, Charlie Butler of Broadway; three daughters, Lois Butler Black of Bunnlevel, Bobbie Butler Strickland of Clayton and Linda Butler Fann of Washington; three stepdaughters; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elmer, Emma and Fannie and two brothers, Woodrow and Paul Register.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service and other times at the home of her son.
