Mr. Merritt E. Bridgman, 87, of Bogue, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gethsemane Memorial Park with the Rev. Freddie Braswell officiating.
Mr. Bridgman was born in Swan Quarter, the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Cutrell Bridgman. He served in the Army during World War II, as a master sergeant. He later served as a lieutenant in the Army Reserve. He was a civil service employee at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and also owned Sands Realty Co. in Emerald Isle.
Survivors include his stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home &Crematory, Morehead City.
