The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and the Beaufort County Education Foundation hosted the eighth-annual Adult Team Spelling Bee sponsored by the Washington Daily News and PotashCorp.

More than 25 teams participated to raise money for The Education Foundation’s PIE grants program and the educational endeavors of the chamber.

PotashCorp Team 1 won the spelling bee by correctly spelling “pizzicato,” meaning plucking by the fingers used as a direction of music.

WITN anchor Dave Jordan served as the event’s pronouncer.
