Mr. Earl William Lloyd, 88, of 13 Robin Lane, Riverside Campground, Belhaven, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
A graveside service will be conducted today at 3:30 p.m. in Soule Cemetery, Swan Quarter, with Steve Bryan officiating.
Mr. Lloyd was born in New Brunswick, Canada, on Nov. 27, 1920. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Lillian Drake Lloyd. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired real estate salesman and in later years owned and operated a restaurant in Lexington, N.Y. He was married to Lois Estelle Lloyd, who survives. He and his wife retired and moved to North Carolina from Lexington, N.Y., in 1998. He was a member of Ansantawae Lodge No. 89 AF&AM.
Survivors include two daughters, Leslie L. Maginniss of Guilford, Conn., and Laura L. Marshall of Pennellville, N.Y.; one brother, Franklin Lloyd of Milford, Conn.; two sisters, Emma Gilbert and Flora Main, both of Milford, Conn.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Lloyd and Glenn Lloyd.
