SCRANTON — Mr. James Lenorad Burris Sr., 68, of 2092 Pudding Hill Road, Scranton, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Cross Creek Care Center in Swan Quarter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Pilgrim Church of Christ-Disciples of Christ in Scranton with Vice Bishop Charlie Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark family cemetery.
Mr. Burrus was born on Sept. 26, 1940 in Hyde County. He was the son of the late Luella Clark Burrus and James Leslie Burrus. He attended the public schools of Hyde County. He was employed as a mechanic. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Church of Christ-Disciples of Christ.
He was married to Grace Lene Chadwick Burrus, who survives.
Survivors include three daughters, Shelia Burrus, Annette Burrus and Francine Harper, all of New York; one son, James Lenorad Burrus Jr. of Plymouth; two sisters, Willie Bea Green and Lucrestia Burrus, both of New York; nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel Burrus and William Henry Burrus.
The family will receive friends at the home.
