Mrs. Lillian H. Wingertsahn, 93, of 105 Shad Bend Drive, Washington, NC and formerly of 1310 Canterbury Court, Anniston, Alabama, died Thursday, February 5, 2009.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, with Father Arturo Cabra officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Anniston, Alabama.
Mrs. Wingertsahn was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Humenik. She was married on May 25, 1954 to Gerard R. Wingertsahn who preceded her in death on August 11, 2004. Mrs. Wingertsahn was a graduate of Duquesne University and worked as a librarian for 30 years. She retired from St. Bonaventure University in 1973.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Brian Woodham, and grandson John Tyler Woodham; sisters Mary Humenik, Mildred Janosko, and Violet Niemann; and her loyal caregiver Mrs. Volina Tyson.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Justin Patrick Woodham on June 30, 2005; her sisters Susan Staron, Elizabeth Chatlos, Viola Humenik; and brothers John and Edward Humenik.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the public library of one’s choice.
