Mrs. Ethel Baker Chauncey, 92, of 109 Jackson St., Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in Oakdale Cemetery with Chaplain Sanford Sears officiating.
Mrs. Chauncey was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 17, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Wiley and Janie O’Mary. On Jan. 20, 1934, she married Samuel H. Chauncey, who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1972.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Seavey of the home; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill Baker, James Baker, Jack Baker, Swindell Baker and Jesse Baker; three sisters, Mamie Chauncey, Gladys Anderson and Bertha Jackson; one grandson, Sam Smith and one great-grandson, Nickolas Stokesberry.
