Mr. William R. “Pete” Hampton Jr., 82, of Plymouth, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
A private interment service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hampton was born in Danville, Va., the son of the late William R. Hampton Sr. and Eliza Hamlin Hampton. He was married to Mary Shallington Hampton, who survives. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired as co-owner of Shore Acre Motel at Nags Head. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Kate Hampton of Plymouth, Nancy Harper of Marietta, Ga., and Betty Hinkes of Newton, N.J.; one son, Bob Hampton of Greenville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Eliza Gidden and one brother, Tom Hampton.
Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
