Mr. Harry Deonard Pelletier, age 93, formerly of 214 Hudnell Street, died Sunday morning February 22, 2009 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday February 25, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Washington officiated by Dr. Michael Price. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Jim Bilbro, Jesse Boyd, Gary Wilson, Billy Jay Woolard, Glen Barnes and Sam Fulmer will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Pelletier was born in Greenville, NC on November 13, 1915, son of the late George Washington and Almeda Forbes Pelletier. On July 13, 1942, he married the former Millicent Jarvis, who preceded him in death on September 7, 2004. He was an employee and later owner of Service Market in Washington for fifty years. Mr. Pelletier was a member of the First Christian Church, where he was a member of the church choir for many years, Sunday School teacher and held several leadership positions in the church. He was also a member of the Washington Lions Club and the Washington Choral Society.
Survivors include his two daughters: Mona Pelletier Harrison of Richmond, VA and Pam Pelletier of Washington, NC; two granddaughters: Meredith Kriz of Indianapolis, IN and Laura Harrison of Richmond, VA; two great grandchildren: Rachel and Tyler Kriz; three nieces: Shirley Hodges of Ayden, NC, Linda Cunningham of New Waverly, TX and Marna Congleton of Raleigh, NC and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Alice Leigh Tetterton on October 30, 2004.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Christian Church Capital Campaign Fund or the First Christian Church Choir Fund, 401 East 2nd Street, Washington, NC 27889.
