Mrs. Peggy Rose Adams Scherer, 71, formerly of Grimesland died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Greenfield Place Nursing Home in Greenville.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Edwards-Jones Cemetery in Grimesland. Pastor Stanley Jones will officiate.
Mrs. Scherer was born in Pitt County on March 5, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Major and Arlie McRoy Adams. She attended Pitt County Schools and married Henry George Scherer Jr. on March 19, 1963. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2000. Mrs. Scherer was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Jesse Scherer of Grimesland and Billy Ray Scherer of Chocowinity; a sister, Annie Hardy of Grimesland; three brothers, Jackie Adams of Grimesland, Henry Adams of Greenville and Jimmy Ray Adams of Greenville; and two grandchildren.
