CALICO — Mr. Carl Spencer Venters, 77, died Friday, March 6, 2009.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Venters, a native and lifelong resident of the Calico community of Pitt County, was a graduate of Chicod High School. He was engaged in farming and livestock production, and for a number of years he served as an insurance agent for Combined Insurance Company. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #284, was a member and past president of the Coastal Plain Horse Show Association, member and past president of the Pitt County Livestock Association, and a lifetime member of the Black Angus Cattle Association. He spent much of his life enjoying the outdoors and raising animals.
He is survived by his: son, Carlton Roy Venters and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Hunter Kyle Venters and wife, Ashley, and Ashton Brooke Venters, all of Greenville; and special friend, Joyce M. Cutler, of Washington.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
