Mrs. Neva Sadler Oden, 82, of 1008 Washington St., Washington, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Deeper Life Ministries Church, Washington, with pastors William and Dorothy Guilford officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Oden was born in Hyde County on Nov. 26, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Vernon Sadler Sr. and Martha Weston Sadler. She attended the Hyde County Schools. She was married to Elijah Oden, who preceded her in death. She retired from the Washington City Schools Food Service Department and the Washington Motel. She was a former member of Saint Delight Church in Hyde County.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Guilford and Dorothy Parker, both of Washington, and Betty Barr of Chocowinity; one stepdaughter, Theresa King of Washington; three sons, Willie Oden and Dennis Oden, both of Washington, and Mack Oden of Hyde County; two sisters, Mary Sadler of Washington and Nelthan Gray; two brothers, Vernon Sadler Jr. of Grimesland and Alligro Sadler; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ray Oden; two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements will be announced by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
