Mrs. Guendolen Creach Whitley, 86, of Williamston, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitley was born in Macks Creek, Mo., on Dec. 7, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Lester Hugh Creach and Lena Bonner Creach. On April 13, 1946, she married F.B. Whitley Jr., who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2005. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon, librarian and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Whitley Cummings of Raleigh and Julia Whitley Melvin of Milford, Pa.; one son, Steven Creach Whitley of Greenville; one sister, Marjorie Creach Moore of Springfield, Mo.; one grandchild; five stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3-4 p.m. and from 7-8:30 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church.
