The Pam Pack pushed five runs across the plate in the second inning Tuesday and junior hurler Michael Robinson made sure those runs would hold up.
The Pack right-hander was nearly untouchable on Tuesday afternoon as he tossed a one-hit, complete game gem at Futrell Field to lead Washington to a 5-0 win over Farmville Central.
The Pam Pack chased Jaguars’ starting pitcher Marlon Hall after an 1 1/3 innings as Washington sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the second.
David Tyson got the inning started wtih a leadoff single and Justin “Gator” Moore followed with a single to center field. After a sac bunt by Justin Meekins, Cole Hartley drew a walk to load the bases.
One batter later, Dave Cutler punched a single over the head of Jags’ second baseman Matt Ashorn scoring Tyson and Moore and giving the Pack a 2-0 lead.
Justin “Weasel” Moore then delivered the big blow as he followed with a two-run triple that scored Hartley and Cutler.
After one-out walks to Jake Duke and Christopher Everette, Austin Thompson drove in the Pack’s final run with a sac fly to right field, allowing Weasel Moore to score.
From there, Robinson and the Pack’s defense took over.
Save for a fifth inning double by Farmville Central’s Jordan Evans, Robinson held the Jags hitless.
Robinson needed just 80 pitches over seven innings of work as he allowed just five base runners (one hit, three walks and one error) on the afternoon. He struck out four to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Pam Pack (3-1) will return to the diamond next Tuesday as it hosts D.H. Conley.
