Creswell Preparing for Start of 2013 School Year

Creswell is preparing for the start of the new school year with several events beginning in August. Jean Olecki, Administrative Assistant, at Creswell High School explained that a planned Back to School Rally is usually well attended. “It tends to have about 150 to 200 attendees. This will be the third year we’ve done it. Parents and students alike come up to meet the new faculty, hear about what’s new for the school year, pick up school supply lists and their schedules. They also get to see small presentations or displays from the various clubs at school looking for new members,” she said. The rally planned for Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Creswell High School Gymnasium will include presentations by the Athletics Department, JROTC program, and the FFA Chapter. Smaller numbers attend the Open house scheduled on Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “It is more like a second chance to pick up schedules and meet teachers, for those who were out of town or unable to make the rally.  Also, new students and transfers get the chance to tour the school, learn where their rooms are located, and meet the staff,’” said Olecki The 7th grade orientation is scheduled on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Gymnasium.
